seriously…it is time.
I have been talking to my inner circle a lot lately about taking myself serious.
What do I mean about taking myself seriously?
I mean finally taking that oil painting class I have been saying for years I would do for years.
Taking more walks during the day.
Caring for my body and mental peace.
It means finally getting my charcuterie website up and running.
It means having a heavy strike on Duolingo in not only French, but Spanish, Italian, and Haitian Creole.
All of these things may be small in scale, but when small things build into bigger things. Small habits leading to greater rewards.
It is something about the digital age that makes us believe that hard work, consistency, and dedication are novel concepts. The heavy belief that everything needs to be instant or viral in order to have value. The value is you. You are more than capable and valuable than you know. Being happy leads to you having the life you are hopeful to have for yourself.
How do you want to remember your life in your final moments?
As you lay your head down for the last time, in that final breath…what will bring that sweet smile as you reminisce on your beautiful life?
Can you say you lived the life you wanted -with all those worthwhile mistakes?
The beauty and curse of a world that moves so fast is that you rarely can catch your breath. With little to no grace in order to try new things. Sometimes that reluctance of grace is fear that you may fail from those that love you or the fear others place on you because they are scared of their own dreams and desires. The things they buried under all the pain the world brought them and harden them to. This world has a special place for the dreamers that continue to dream even when their hopes sometimes get crushed and still rise to the occasion of actualizing their dreams.
I was reminded this week that life is tragically short.
I have been in an constant tug of war of differentiating between just because you are good at something doesn’t mean you have to do if you doesn’t spark joy.
Getting the courage to stand up to myself and others that I do not have to anything I don’t want to. Standing firm in your boundaries is okay. Choosing yourself is okay. You can’t pour from an empty cup.
It is as if all the lessons we lived through with Big Rona went out the window.
Being kind, understanding, patient, taking things slows…just disappeared. Leaving us to remain shells of what humanity should look like.
Caring for your neighbor, yourself, and your family. Honoring what is the most important in your life.
Yet, we have made money and success our idols again versus our happiness. Now, please do not mistake what I am saying as if you can’t be successful and be happy…but chasing success in lieu of love and tender moments of your happiness is what life is meant for.
Friends, if you are questioning taking that leap to chart a new course and wondering if your career worth it anymore, I hope this is your catalyst to live out your ambitions and dreams to curate the life you would be proud of.
Charting your new path for yourself can be scary. My motto is if it doesn’t scare you a little its probably not worth it. Fear is a natural response, but do not allow it weigh you down.
So it’s time you crazy kids - to make mistakes and get messy!

The Gentlemen on Netflix
Theo. James.
Oh the other plot? Yes, yes… this follows aristocratic Eddie (played by Theo James *drools*) inherits the family estate, he discovers that it's home to an enormous weed empire ran by the notorious Glass Family. As Eddie tries to honor the terms of the agreement his late father made with the Glasses’ and figure out a way to get them off his family estate, he soon discovers he’s good at the business. Will Eddie get out or get deeper into the empire?
Truly finished this series in a weekend, and again Theo James makes it an easy watch.
Sacre Sucre

The new location of Sacre Sucre makes it more delectable for us home office folks who want to switch up the vibes. Filled with the same great French pastries but way more space to work solo or with friends. Closer to all the good vibes of Fells Point and the waterfront.
Niccara’s Book Club Recommendation
I did this read on audiobook via Libro.FM which supports your local indie bookstore of choice.
In the spirit of taking yourself seriously, no one better to hear it from is the late, great Cicely Tyson herself. A dazzling piece of grit, love, risks, and a life truly lived. One of the best of memoirs, I have had the opportunities to listen to.
The audiobook has Viola Davis as well as Cicely Tyson speaking with the book read by Robin Miles.
